The Primark Edit

As we all know, Primark can be a bit hit and miss, but obviously the price reflects the quality of the clothes. However, recently I've been noticing that it's becoming easier to pick out the nicer pieces, and yes the prices are going up but there's definitely a reason for that!

The Perfect Red Lip : My guide

A red lip can be both the most difficult and the most beautiful look to try and pull off, but no matter how daunting it can seem, it's a trend that dates back many years and denotes Hollywood glamour at it's best - which is why it's so great.

Why you should wear it:

-It's striking, you'll be eye catching and standout.
-It can add a pop of colour to an otherwise black or monotone outfit.
-It can be used as a 1-step make up look, try going bare-faced otherwise, as seen on many a catwalk model.
-It flatters everyone, find a blue or pink-based shade to match your skintone.
-It makes your teeth appear whiter, prepare to fake the hollywood smile.
-There are so many different shades on the market, it's easy to find a specific red colour you love.
-Adding it is the perfect transition from day to night.

How to wear it:

Step 1. Exfoliation- using a Lush lipscrub (my favourite is Mint Julips) or a handmade scrub, helps to get rid of all the dry patches which lipstick (especially red) can cling to, and you'll be left with soft lips.

Step 2. Lipbalm- A moisturising, clear lipbalm, such as the Labello Classic Care, which I am currently loving, can give your lips the smooth base that is needed for lipstick.

Step 3. Contouring/highlighting- lightly apply a small amount of white eyeliner to the centre of your bottom lip and just above the 'v' of the cupid's bow, blend this in to get a fuller effect later on.

Step 4. Lining- If you have a lip pencil which matches your lipstick exactly, use this to line your lips, and to make them fuller, take the line slightly out of your natural lipline. If you don't have a matching lip pencil, simply use a lip brush (I recommend the real techniques one) or a clean eyeliner brush, and use it to line your lips with the same lipstick you're going to be filling in with.

Step 5. Filling in- This is the simple part, just fill in your lips between the liner, use sparingly at first because it can get messy and you can always go over the top with another layer!

Step 6. Finishing- To ensure your lipstick is even and to remove the excess, fold over a piece of tissue, place it between your lips and press moderately hard.

Step 7. Sealing the colour- This step is not essential, but personally I find it really helps to lock the lipstick in place and prevent from sliding off your lips. To achieve this, I like to use Lipcote, which you simply brush all over your lipstick and wait for a couple of seconds until it dries. This product doesn't taste very good, however it really does the job at avoiding lipstick marks on clothing, hands and drinks, so give it a go!
